Child in Christ
Being a child in Christ is an exciting time. And it can be a frustrating time. It is filled with learning new things, developing new relationships and adapting to new ways of living. Some of the things you will learn at this stage is the storyline of the Bible; truths about God and what He has done and is doing in the world today; how we partner with God; the forces at work against us in this partnership with God; how and why we serve; beginning the process of learning to be lead by the Holy Spirit; and what it means to be part of the family of God.
Entering into service is an important part of this stage. As you begin to serve your character will begin to be developed as well. Experiencing the internal battle of our old man wanting to be in control and how we can live in the new man is also part of this stage. Infants can tend to be selfish, a tendency which will need to be overcome if growth is to occur. Selfishness is apparent when changes are made or decisions are made that are not what was expected. The mindset at this point has not quite grasped that life with Christ means life is to be given away.
Being proactive in learning about the Bible, developing new relationships with other Christ followers and serving on a consistent basis are important steps at this stage of growth.
